Nicola Harris, École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne, Switzerland
Nicola L. Harris received her PhD in 1998 from the Malaghan Institute of Medical Research, New Zealand. She then moved to Zurich to complete postdoctoral work under Rolf Zinkernagel at the Institute for Experimental Immunology, University of Zurich. In July 2005 she started her own independent research group at the ETH Zurich, following which she relocated her group to the School of Life Sciences, EPF Lausanne, where she is currently an Associate Professor. Her laboratory focuses on the impact of intestinal bacteria and intestinal helminthes on host immunity. Her group strives to understand i) how we protect ourselves against these organisms and ii) how elimination or changes in our exposure to these organisms impact on immune responsiveness and allergic disease.
